Jane H. Dané is the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management at Old Dominion University. She oversees the Enrollment Management area that includes 130 staff members from the areas of Admissions, the Center for Major Exploration and Mane Connect Success Coaching, Customer Relations, Student Financial Aid, Student Transition & Family Programs, and the Registrar’s Office. Jane serves on the leadership team of the Vice President of Student Engagement and Enrollment Services (SEES). She promotes degree completion for Old Dominion University and the Commonwealth through her visionary leadership with the Online Virginia Network in partnership with George Mason University and the Virginia Community College System and holds a position on the Online Virginia Network’s Authority Board. Jane has convened national meetings with colleagues on Social Mobility to promote access and student success. Prior to 2011, she led enrollment management initiatives at Salisbury University and served in statewide leadership positions for the University System of Maryland. Jane received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware and master’s degree in Education from Salisbury University.
Jane is the recipient of the 2019 Outstanding Enrollment Management Professional Award by the Enrollment Management Knowledge Community of NASPA: Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. Jane was the recipient of the 2011 American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) Strategic Enrollment Management Award for Excellence that recognizes outstanding achievement and visionary leadership in strategic enrollment management. In 2018, Jane served as the conference chair for the Southern Association for College Student Affairs (SACSA). Additionally, Jane is active in national and regional enrollment and student affairs organizations and has presented recently at AACRAO, National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA), Higher Education Users Group, National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), and SACSA. She is known for leading collaborative teams to achieve institutional strategic goals, with direct impact on student recruitment, access and affordability, predictive modeling, and student success.
Jane has co-authored “The Impact of Study Abroad on Academic Success: An Analysis of First-Time Students Entering Old Dominion University, Virginia, 2000-2004,” published in Frontiers: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Study Abroad, Volume XXIII-Fall 2013 and her research article, “Keeping Our Options Open: Evaluating the Impact of a Pilot Test-Optional Admission Policy” was published and presented at the American Education Research Association (AERA).
